The global campaign for the Samsung Galaxy SIII is focused on the idea that the Galaxy S-III "understands you". We decided to build a web-banner that didn't just say this about the phone, but demonstrated it to people in a memorable and personalized way.

We decided to build a web-banner that didn't just say this about the phone, but demonstrated it to people in a memorable and personalized way.
The Idea:
My Banner, The Banner That Knows You.
We surprised our audience by creating bespoke online web banners that featured a picture of each computer user on the screen of a new Samsung Galaxy SIII. The web banners also featured the name of each individual next to their picture, and when surprised people took a closer look at the banner, the Galaxy SIII would receive an incoming call from one of the individual's circle of friends. People who were surprised to see their own name and their friends' names on the banner would click on the phone, which would then redirect them to a microsite containing information about the Samsung Galaxy SIII and its launch date.
So how the data and pictures were put into these custom banner ads?
A few weeks earlier we launched a Facebook application showing people a galaxy of their circle of friends. To play on this app, people had to allow the app to access their basic information on Facebook, which provided us with all the data we needed to craft custom, bespoke banner ads.



Results:
On June 7, 2012 which is our launch date, we have 31,739 visits in just 24 hours.
620,569 people visited our micro site within 1 month.
163,564 came directly from our banners.
